Treegator

What is a Treegator® Drip Irrigation Bag? It’s a tree bag that holds water for slow release irrigation to tree and shrub roots. Treegator® makes a patented product in two different variations for this task. The secret to deep root growth is slow release drip irrigation, treegators disperse needed moisture as well as aid in water retention.

Two Treegator Styles

Treegator® Junior is a 15 gallon irrigation bag is for trees and shrubs up to 4 “calipered” inches at their base with branches roughly 6 inches from the ground or higher.

  • Metered Irrigation – Delivers water from full to empty averaging 4 to 8 hours per refill cycle.
  • UV Protected Protected – Gator skin will not degrade from sunlight hitting it’s surface.
  • Removable Emitters – For easy cleaning.
  • Durable Heat Seals – When water is heated it expands, the gator skin is made to handle this.
  • Color – Brown which blends in with dirt or mulch.

Instructions: Level ground at the base of your tree or shrub, cover this area with a few inches of mulch to help soil retain moisture. Place bag and fill with water.

Treegator® Original is a 20 gallon portable irrigation bag for 1-4 inch trees with branches 25 inches from the ground or higher.

  • Metered Irrigation – Delivers water from full to empty averaging 6 to 10 hours per refill cycle.
  • UV Protected Protected Polyethylene – Gator skin will not degrade from sunlight hitting it’s surface.
  • Drip Holes – Uses drip holes to emit drip irrigation.
  • Nylon Zippers – To zip up bag around base of tree.
  • Pull Strap Handle – To pull up bag to allow drip holes to emit water.
  • Color – Green.

Instructions: Wrap treegator around tree, zip up the zipper, fill bag with hose and lift straps.

An added benefit when using treegators is that the moist ground underneath is attractive to earthworms which churn and aerate the soil leaving worm castings that act as a natural fertilizer. These drip irrigation bags are the real deal, I will post some pictures when the ground thaws.
